Sony are well known for producing great looking electronics equipment and these white laptops are no exception. This 15.5 inch white laptop looks great both inside and out with rounded corners, a shiny white exterior and slim profile. Weighing in at 6 pounds, this is definitely not the lightest notebook computer around but this is still a decent weight for the screen size and Sony make up for the weight in other areas. If you don’t really want a white laptop then you can also choose from navy blue, berry pink or imperial lime, or opt for one of the limited edition textured cases.
This model comes with an Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T6500 (2.1GHz), 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, a 320GB Serial ATA hard drive and a DVD Double Layer Drive. This should provide all the power you need for gaming, watching movies, working and any other tasks you need your white laptop for.
In terms of connectivity, there is a network adapter included for Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi and an integrated webcam to make it easy to stay in touch with your friends and family when you’re on the road. The Lithium ion has a run time of up to 5.5 hours which is not as long as some other similar models but enough to give you a decent stretch of work time without having to recharge. Bear in mind that the battery life is reduced significantly when watching movies or playing games. You can buy an additional battery with a larger capacity (6-9 cell) if battery life is an important factor for you.
The laptop ships with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition which provides all the applications you need for entertainment, connectivity, word processing and more.
One downside of the design of this machine is that it features a textured touchpad. Some users find this is difficult to use compared to a smooth touchpad which can cause your fingers to catch. It’s advisable to try this out before you buy so you can see if it is a problem for you.
Overall this is a decent midrange machine with gorgeous looks and some great features. If you’re a fan of the VAIO range by Sony then you won’t be disappointed with this laptop. However with a retail price of around $970, it is certainly not the cheapest laptop out there and you can get white laptops from other companies with similar specifications for a lower price tag.
